Gents 1950s jumbo Wyler Vetta wrist watch
Gents 1950s jumbo Wyler Vetta wrist watch.
Wyler ETA 1132 (calibre 32) 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Wyler Watch Company and Wyler Vetta.
The watch measures 37mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold plated while the case back is stainless steel. There is a very small amount of rubbing and a little marking but overall the condition is good. The inside of the case back is signed with the Wyler Vetta name.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is signed Wyler-Vetta, Incaflex (Incaflex was an effective shockproofing system). It is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and minute markers.
Wyler-Vetta was a collaboration between Innocent Binda and the Wyler brothers, with the decision to register the Wyler-Vetta name in 1933. The Vetta element of the name was thought to be more appealing to the Italian market, the home country of Binda, and there was some concern with the then political situation that the Wyler foreign name would have negative connotations. Innocent Binda had excellent marketing skills and was one of the first to use testimonials and famous faces to promote his watches, including the Italian football team.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
