Gents 1920s Omega Regina silver wrist watch
Gents 1920s Regina wrist watch by Omega, made for the Canadian market.
The watch has a good quality Swiss hand-winding movement (15 jewels, adjusted two positions) which is working nicely. The movement is signed Regina Watch Company.
At the time this watch was made, Omega wanted to increase their share of the watch market in Canada. They were somewhat limited as Omega branded watches could only be sold through officially franchised Omega dealerships. In order to get around this issue, and to increase their sales, Omega branded some of their watches with different names, such as Regina, which meant that the watches could then be sold to Canadian jewellers who were not Omega franchisees.
The watch measures 30mm wide excluding the rather fabulous winding crown and 30mm high excluding the lugs. The case is stamped 'sterling' for sterling silver and it also has the case maker's mark for Fahys. Joseph Fahys & Co was a high quality watch case maker with headquarters in New York. The company was founded in 1857 by Joseph Fahys, a French emigrant. Fahys supplied Omega with sterling silver cases at the beginning of the 20th Century.
The case is in very nice condition, as is the lens.
The signed dial is in super condition, the numbers probably would have had painted detail but this has been removed over the years.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
