Francis Molton, Norwich Barometer
A fine quality early example of a wheel barometer. A rounded pediment with fan parquetry inlays and chequered banding to the case edges. A well engraved long thermometer scale with large bulb thermometer. A cast bezel surround to the well engraved silvered dial signed 'Francis Molton Fecit Norwich' with engraved dial centre.
Francis Molton of Norwich is recorded in Banfileds' 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working from 1790 in London. He then worked from Norwich and is recorded in Dove Lane and St Lawrence Steps. This example dates to circa 1800.
