A fine Victorian rosewood writing slope with Tunbridge ware decoration. The slope has a large central mosaic panel that depicts Battle Abbey Gatehouse this is surrounded by a floral and fruits border. The interior is the original and retains a lidded compartment, of the two inkwells one is original and the other replaced. The slope is in good untouched country house condition there are some very minor bits of veneer loss in the interior and some minor repairs. The whole has a great untouched patina and slightly faded colour. A lovely example of Tunbridge ware and a great untouched Victorian writing slope. C.1870.
