Finely carved figure of Shou Lao who represents long life and good fortune. He holds a gnarled staff in one hand while the child by his side holds the 'Golden Peach of Immortality'. Carved from a single piece of boxwood, the craftsmanship is of the highest order with considerable attention paid by the carver to the staff, face and small child. It is quite large at 37cm in height.

Condition: There are two small losses: to an edge at the tip of the staff and to the instrument held in the figure's left hand. There are also some minor shrinkage splits near the base. These do little to detract from this fine carving which has a good patina and displays very well. Please contact us if you would like to see additional photographs.
