Fine & Rare Early 18th Century Oak Stick
FINE and RARE 18th, possibly even 17th century substantial oak walking cane. This looks very much to me like the sort of stick press gangs had when rounding up "volunteers" for the naval ships in the 18th century. I've seen very similar looking sticks in early Georgian etchings of press gangs.
The stich has the most wonderful early patination and is a rich dark colour.
The straight part of the stick has been moulded in an octagonal shape with the handle section having been turned with ring decoration.
The stick shows great wear especially to the handle end.
SIZE 34" long
