English Silver Pocket Watch, John Walker, London
A good, gentleman's sterling silver cased Pocket Watch by John Walker of London and dating from c1867.
This watch is a good example, in nice condition and in good working order.
The English made, sterling silver case is in good condition, all covers opening and closing tightly as they should. It has full English hallmarks for sterling silver. The maker's mark "JW" for John Walker, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and the date letter "m" for 1867/68. The rear of the case with engine turned engraving and a central cartouche that has an engraved crest.
The white enamel dial is in very good condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed by the maker John Walker, London above the serial number 8780.
The good quality movement is in excellent working order. It is signed John Walker, 68 Cornhill & 230 Regent Street, London and has the serial number 8780 to match the dial.
The watch measures 47mm in diameter (across the case, excluding the winding crown).
