English Coin Safe / Jewellery Cabinet c.1860
A gem of a box, this English Victorian table cabinet is made from silver plate and gilded bronze fittings, exquisite quality.
The top has the most beautiful handle, pierced and engraved to compliment the lovely feet and the engraved full length hinges.
The interior is lined in leather and the four small drawers again, with stunning pierced and engraved handles. Each drawer lined with blue silk and velvet. This would have been a travelling coin / silver / gold box but would make the most beautiful antique jewellery box. Either side of the drawers are two vertical compartments for notes, letters or photographs.
The box comes with a (replacement) working key to operate the lock on the right hand side the key must be pushed while engaging the sprung lock, this door locks the left hand door too.
Mid Victorian in era and dating to c.1860 having a footprint measuring 7" x 5 1/2" x 9" tall or 11 1/2" to top of handle. Superb condition.
