Edwardian Era French Dessert Service c.1910
Edwardian era dessert service by the French porcelain makers Foecy c.1910. Comprising five raised comport dishes on stems (2 pairs at 2½” and 5½” height plus one larger dish at 6½” height) plus 19, 8½” diameter dessert plates and a lidded sauce boat. Remarkably each piece is hand painted with an individual view of a chateau and church buildings with distinctive spire roofs beside a river. It’s quite possible this was a real place and the service was specially commissioned from Foecy by the owners of the estate. Surrounding the painted centre is a broad band of Sevres blue and a gilt edge. With the Foecy mark to the underside of one of the comports. Excellent condition with just a small chip to the edge of one of the plates.
Dimensions: Plates 8½” diameter. Comport dishes: height 2½” – 6½”, diameter 8½” – 9¾”.
