Delicately decorated early Art Nouveau Doulton Lambeth stoneware vase by Florence C Roberts and Rosina Brown c1890. The vase is of classic baluster form with everted rim. Stylised tubelined foliate design encircling the body on a textured ground. Impressed Doulton Lambeth mark (used pre-1902) and pattern number 4073. Monogrammed FCR for Florence C Roberts and RB for Rosina Brown. The vase measures 20 cm in height and 9.5 cm maximum diameter.
This vase is in excellent original condition. No chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.

Ceramic artist Florence C Roberts worked at Doulton from 1879 to 1930. As well as the usual incised and carved techniques practiced by many of the Doulton Wares artists, she was fond of relief modelling of flowers and foliage. She collaborated with several of the leading artists, especially Hannah Barlow. Rosina Brown (RB) joined Doulton in 1875 initially as Senior Assistant working alongside other artists such as Frank Butler, Eliza Simmance and Hannah Barlow. Her work being recognised, she went on to complete her own designs as an artist in her own right. Viewing welcomed - please contact us in advance.
