A disc musical box by Polyphon of Leipzig, Germany. Model 104, serial number 15204. Manufactured 1898. The coin operated mechanism is activated by dropping one old English penny (supplied) into an opening in the side of the case. The disc (50 cm diameter or 19 5/8 inches) will complete one or two revolutions (as chosen by the operator) before stopping. 10 discs are included. The mechanism has been professionally serviced. The case and later disc storage bin have been restored to a high standard. Sold with a two year guarantee subject to an ‘in person’ briefing as to the correct operation of this instrument. A similar model was restored by this seller fo a Christmas edition of the popular BBC TV programme, ‘The Repair Shop’.
