This compact is ideal for your collection or for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
A splendid 1950s glitter & Lucite Melissa powder compact. The lid is exquisitely beautiful - a clear octagonal Lucite dome shields the adorable colourful Lucite bouquet and preserves it so well that it looks as beautiful as it did back in the day. Set atop a glitter foil background - all perfectly gorgeous..... pale pink, crimson & cornflower blue flowers & foliage are neatly arranged. The outer edge of the lid has engraved flowers & foliage. The lid lifts to reveal a clear mirror which gives a good and accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is inscribed 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. The inner lid and base have complex guilloche designs which are typical for this brand of vanity. The inner lid is held shut by the instantly recognizable Melissa 'tear drop' catch. The original pouch and sifter are present & they are in good order. The whole compact is in excellent condition.
This delightful mid-century powder compact measures almost 7 cm & weighs 77.1 grams.
