Celebrated world-wide and considered Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns (1759 - 1796) -affectionately known as Rabbie - was a prolific poet and lyricist in the 18th century. Credited as a main player in the Romantic movement of arts, his works in a light Scots dialect afford him an audience outside of Scotland's borders. A cultural icon, remembered with his own day each year on his birthday (25th January) and sculptures across the world, Robert Burns is a titan of the poetic form.
