Vellum Apprentice Indenture dated 1856 between John Thornton aged eleven years, son of Thomas Thornton of Hoton, near Loughborough - Cordwainer (shoe and boot maker of the finest quality luxury leather) - and William Fisher
of Loughborough - Blacksmith. Mr Thornton paid £15.00 to the Blacksmith to apprentice his son John, who was to be Apprenticed for 10 years.
The Indenture has a superb Initial Letter and Coat of Arms together with Three good Wax Seals and Blue One Pound Embossed Duty Stamp and a good Leicester Duty Franking. Plus Victoria Cypher on reverse.
