A Black Forest wood dip pen with brass end and nib. The pen features a seated bear which looks to be holding something. The brass grip part has some nice engraved decoration and the nib looks to be in good order.

Black forest carvings do not actually come from the black forest region of Germany but in fact come from the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. These carvings date back to the 19th century and were thought to have originated in Germany when they first began to appear in the United States. They have since become very collectible items.
