Barograph marked RAF 950 Squadron
Barograph from RAF 950 Squadron
Outer case Stencilled RAF 950 A
This lovely barograph is also marked and labelled W.T. Barnes
W.T Barnes O.B.E was a wing commander in the Balloon Branch of the RAF in 1941.
950 Squadron was a balloon squadron which was posted to the Orkney Islands to protect the Naval Base, Lyness and Scapa Flow (copies of source documents will be supplied with instrument).
The barograph and outer case have a retailers plate "Jas. Woolley. Sons and Co Ltd Manchester"
The barograph itself looks like a mahogany cased Short and Mason Stormograph model (but I cannot be sure) and is in full working order
Outer case measures approx 392mm x 245mm height 240mm and has a drop down front
The instrument measures approx 336mm x 215mm height 190mm
This lovely barograph has a great history and good provenance
Some ink and papers will be supplied with this item
