Antique Waltham gold filled pocket watch.
The watch has a good quality 15-jewel adjusted stem-winding movement, grade 28 which was in production from 1895 to 1904, which is working nicely. The movement has exquisitely patterned plates, Church 1885 patent regulator and Breguet hairspring. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 7,987,798 dates it back to around 1896.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a sunburst pattern to the inside.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and loop. The case is the14ct gold filled Commander model, made for Waltham by the Illinois Watch Case Company. The front of the case is in good condition while there is a little unevenness to the case back and a couple of surface scratches.
The glass lens is in good condition.
The signed dial has its original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is a hairline crack running down from number 11 towards number 8.
The watch comes in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
