Antique Thomas Russell pocket watch
Antique Thomas Russell pocket watch.
The watch has a Swiss 10-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Thomas Russell name and Tempus Fugit logo. There is an inner protective cover.
Thomas Russell & Son was a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and antique clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Birmingham based watch case maker Aaron Dennison. Dennisons supplied various watch makers with cases. The case has some rubbing around the edge of the case back.
The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial is in lovely condition. The minute hand is very slightly out of shape.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
