Antique Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch.
Thomas Russell & Son was a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and antique clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch, a stem-winding 10-jewel movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed, including the Tempus Fugit logo. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50.4mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is the Star model made by the Dennison Watch Case Company. The case has light surface marking from use and some slight rubbing to the front cover but overall it is in nice condition for a 1920s piece.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in nice condition.
The signed double sunk dial has a very faint hairline crack to the centre between 7 and 2 o'clock but otherwise it is in nice condition.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
