An antique silver pocket watch from the Lancashire Watch Company.
The company was established in 1889 and was intended to be a rival for the big American and Swiss watch manufacturers but unfortunately it failed and the company was closed in 1910.
The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. A winding key is included. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover.
The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for Chester 1905 together with the maker’s mark TPH for Thomas Hewitt, the Managing Director of the Lancashire Watch Company. The case has a small shallow indentation to the back but overall is in very nice condition. Some of the engine turned detail has worn off the back of the watch, just from repeated use over the years.
The watch glass is in good condition.
The dial is in very nice condition. The hands are initially set by opening the front cover (which requires something like a pen knife) and inserting the key to the centre. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
