Antique Silver Pocket Watch And Chain
Antique silver pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a little scratching but not too serious.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark) 1919 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.
The case is in good condition, just the odd minor mark, nothing serious. The back of the watch has engine turned detail which is still nice and crisp.
The glass lens has light marking but is very acceptable.
The dial is in lovely condition. Blued steel Breguet style hands.
The watch comes with a silver single chain, 30cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is silver, probably later in date than the watch, but the hallmarks are difficult to read. Also included is a small religious double sided fob. The chain and fob weigh 16g.
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
