Antique Silver Pocket Watch, 1919
Antique silver pocket watch, 1919.
The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has light surface marking and an indentation. There are little pin prick indentations around the opening to the movement, but they do not show when the back covers are closed.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1919 with a sponsor’s mark for
George Stockwell.
From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.
The back of the watch has engine turned detail with a vacant cartouche to the centre. There is unevenness to the back.
The glass lens is in good condition, as is the dial.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
