Antique silver Monitor half hunter pocket watch
Antique silver Monitor pocket watch by Lancashire Watch Company of Prescot, UK.
The watch has a jewelled stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Lancashire Watch Co Ltd, Monitor. According to trade magazines of the time, the Monitor grade was Kew certified. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside all three covers for Birmingham 1909 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison, a prolific manufacturer who supplied various watch makers with cases. The case has a milled edge and engine turned detail, it is in lovely condition. There is a cartouche to the back which is engraved HWG from TCK.
The front cover has a small central lens surrounded by blue enamel filled Roman numerals. The front cover is opened by pressing the winding crown in. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in lovely condition.
The white enamelled dial, signed Prescot, has blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There are a few hairline cracks but they are short and faint.
