Antique Silver Fob Watch And Chain
Antique silver fob watch and chain.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has an indentation.
The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark), 1908. There is also a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell… from 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is beautifully decorated, and it is in good condition with just a slight indentation to the back, not too noticeable with the highly decorated finish.
The glass lens is in good condition.
The dial is in lovely condition, just a very small scratch next to number 9.
The watch comes with a single chain, 27cm long, hallmarked for 1909. Each link has the lion silver mark. There is also a lucky fob, white metal, probably silver.
The watch and chain come in a later presentation box from the retailer John Bennett. The box also contains a hand embroidered fabric patch.
