Antique silver Buren pocket watch, Kendal & Dent
Antique silver Buren pocket watch for Kendal & Dent.
The watch has a Buren key-wound movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 53mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental hallmarks inside the two hinged case backs for 935 silver so slightly purer than 925 sterling silver. There are a couple of slight small bruises to the side of the watch and some unevenness to the case back Engine turned detail and a central vacant cartouche.
The later acrylic lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is signed Kendal & Dent, made at Buren. Kendal & Dent were a well reputed English maker, one of many who started making their own watches in the 19th century and moved on to import "private label" Swiss watches, such as this one, when the Swiss started to dominate the market in the 20th century. The dial is in lovely condition.
