Antique silver 1⁄4 repeater pocket watch, Magnenat
Antique silver 1⁄4 repeater pocket watch, Magnenat Lecoultre.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has a patent number for a 1905 patent which relates to the ringing tone in repeating watches. The patent was applied for by Magnenat Lecoultre & Cie.
Magnenat-LeCoultre was founded by Henri Magnenat and Marie Mathilde LeCoultre. The company was based in Le Sentier and specialised in repeating watches sold under the brand name Le Risoud.. In 1911, the company was acquired by Jeanneret Brehm who went on to become Excelsior Park in 1918.
The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Swiss hallmarks inside the covers. The case is engine turned on both the front and back and it is still nice and crisp. The front of the case has ornate initials to the centre.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.
The dial is signed Churchill, Swiss Made. Churchill was probably the original retailer of the watch as it was usual for retailers to add their name. The dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands (lever set), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The repeater function is operated by pushing the slider to the left. If required, we can send a video of the watch so that you can hear the gongs.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
UK postage only on this particular item.
ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
