This is an antique sarcophagus tea caddy. An English, rosewood case with glass mixer, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
Appealing craftsmanship with a striking decorative appearance
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select stocks present fine grain interest
Light caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish
Distinctive sarcophagus top with decorative satinwood stringing
Dressed to the fascia with a diamond shaped escutcheon — key absent
Pair of lidded canisters sit neatly with a later mixing glass to centre
Canisters in appealing original order, with gently aged linings
Mixing glass presents appealing cut detail with lozenge pattern
Sash shaped rim with a rolled, circular foot
Glass resides within a vibrant lined receptacle
