Antique Mauchline Ware Sewing Thread Box
This is a rare & special find. An original Mauchline Ware thread/string box, in a circular form. Very unusual it has a fabulous printing around the edges for the "ABC Oracle" - a future telling device ?- "Will you ever marry? - Choose any letter from A-P and the Oracle will answer" to the other side "What is your disposition - Choose any letter from A-P and the Oracle will answer". To the top is a beautiful print of a young girl with a small kitten sat to her lap whilst she feeds him from a spoon - just adorable. In very good condition showing only minor signs of having been pre-loved mainly to the under base, it also has the advertising lable to the inside top for Clarke & Co Anchor Cottons of Paisley - Measuring c. 3" inch to the base diameter and standing c. 2.3/8" inch tall it is a superb example that will delight the most discerning of buyers.
