Antique Full Hunter Pocket Watch, Boxed
An antique full hunter pocket watch, boxed.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is not signed but is believed to be from the Buren Watch Company.
The Buren Watch Company was founded in 1898 when H Williamson Ltd of London purchased the Swiss company Fritz Suter & Cie of Buren an der Aare. Williamson invested heavily in the company and was regarded as a successful producer of both pocket watches and table antique clocks. From 1916 , Williamson used the signature Buren Watch Co. Due to a stock market crash, H Williamson Ltd had to close but Buren carried on under the name Uhrenfabric Buren AG when a group of Swiss and English businessmen provided the capital to enable watch production to continue.
The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and is in lovely condition.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover… the cover opens more than it would have done originally but the hinge is nice and secure. Inside there is an acrylic lens. It is very common for the original glass lenses to be replaced and we see this often… it is difficult to tell the difference as they look so similar but they are a lot more durable.
The white enamel dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes in a vintage presentation box… it is a little bit tatty but still nice to have. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
Please contact us before placing international orders so that we can advise of shipping prices and to see if customs regulations allow us to post watches to your country.
The international buyer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the \'Buy Securely\' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
