Antique English Trinity House Money Box c.1870
A quite charming Victorian maritime "Trinity House" money box or bank beautifully inlaid. Always highly sought-after with their nautical theme and romantic story. These Trinity House boxes were made by Lighthouse owners (often in the Portsmouth area of the UK) and sold to owners and Captains of the ships.
The front has a lovely central panel of burl Walnut surrounded by a highly decorative rope style inlay. The top has a central an inlaid picture of a ship at sea.
The underside is complete with the usual crude wooden bung, which would be used to remove the savings.
Highly sought-after and collectible, in excellent condition, measuring 6" x 4 1/2" x 3 3/4".
