A decorator's joy, this outstanding early Victorian Papier Mache tea caddy with it's shaped body is smothered in the most wonderful red paint detail and a plethora of gilding.

The wonderful thing about this caddy is that it is untouched, clean and all totally original with the original four bun feet, the two lids to the interior and the period paper lining the interior of the lid. I suspect the escutcheon to the front is silver but again we have left it untouched. The lock is not working as the top pin is missing and the bottom lock appears locked, again just as we found it.

Dating to around 1840, it remains in superb original condition. 6 3/4" x 4" x 5" tall.
