A truly adorable desk-top accessory, a combined inkwell and match striker.

Made from solid cast brass, the Chick is beautifully executed with lovely detail and retaining his two original glass eyes. The hinged head lifts to reveal a removable ink chamber I presume the matches may have been stored underneath the ink chamber or perhaps just in the tray there are four strikes that run around the base of the piece.

English in origin and Victorian in era, dating to around 1880. Superb condition, measuring 5 1/2" in diameter x 4 1/2" tall.
