A most unusual Victorian Tea Caddy, made from Burr Walnut, one of my favourite timbers with it's highly decorative grain and rich Cognac colour.

The top is mounted with a stunning brass handle, with unusual engine turning and engraved floral motifs surrounding a central shield shaped cartouche. The front has a complimentary large mounted escutcheon which houses the working key.

Once opened, an equally stunning interior is revealed with two very smart Coromandel lids with brass mounts and the most intricate carved floral Mother of Pearl finials.

Dating to around 1860, a superb caddy in excellent condition. 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 5" tall.
