This is an antique carpentry book. An English language, bound reference guide by Peter Nicholson, dating to the Victorian period, published 1846.
Full Title: Practical Carpentry, Joinery and Cabinet-Making Being an new and complete System of Lines for the use of workmen, founded on accurate geometrical and mechanical principles, with their application in Carpentry - to roofs - domes, centring, etc In joinery - to stairs, hand-rails, soffits, niches etc In Cabinet-making, to furniture, both plain and ornamental. Fully and clearly explained.
Peter Nicholson (1765 - 1844) was a Scottish architect, carpenter, mathematician and engineer.
Presented in aged condition - cover loose, aged pages intact with some markings present
Bound in marble paper on board, the leathered spine with gold titling
Superb frontispiece with a portrait of the author and a scene of centring on Waterloo Bridge, London
Published in English across 176 pages, with engraved illustrations to rear on 90 plates
