This is an antique pocket barometer altimeter. An English, oak cased explorer's instrument by Hicks of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
Delightful example of antique hiking or mountaineering interest
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Brass pocket case presents deep golden tones
Charmingly housed within a later Alpine inspired case, held stay with sealed insert
Dashing silvered dial presents beautifully with quality, slender needle
Annotated with a barometric scale from 21 to 31 inches of mercury
To the outer edge, the altimeter calibrated from zero to 10,000 feet
