Antique Art Deco English Geisha Silver & Wood Box
This in an exquisite antique English silver and beautifully patterned pale wood box.
It’s a highly decorative and meticulously crafted piece, dating to the Art Deco period.
The central panel depicts two geishas in an oriental garden, with scrolls, scallops, fleur-de-lys and flowers decorating the corners and sides of the box.
The details are just stunning.
Measurements: 14 x 10 cm
The box has multiple import marks for London and year ‘1926’.
Also stamped for B.C.T Co Ltd and a continental mark for high grade (935) silver, which I believe is German.
Condition: the lid doesn’t close completely (see photo no. 3).
I guess the wood went slightly out of shape over time.
Other than that, very good for age.
I’ve replaced a few tiny missing nails to some of the silver panels at the corners of the box (not all) to stop them wobbling and coming off. Now they are secured on once again.
It’s an outstanding and rare example that would make a fantastic gift to a collector.
