Antique 1920s Moeris pocket watch
Antique 1920s Moeris pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, signed Moeris, which is working nicely. Moeris was a well respected manufacturer, one of the companies used to supply the British military with watches.
The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some scratching.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is nickel and it is in good condition with just light surface marking and , nothing serious at all.
The acrylic lens is in good condition, just very light marks if you look closely.
The enamel dial is signed with the original retailer’s name, Stewart Dawson & Co Ltd. The dial has a very faint hairline crack at 10 o'clock although not noticeable to the naked eye. Original blued steel hands.
Stewart Dawson & Co Ltd was a wholesale and retail business established in 1869. The business moved to London in 1897, and subsequently set up branches in Melbourne and Sydney. In 1931 the business was sold to R H O Hills of Blackpool who continued to trade until their closure in 1935.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
