Antique 1919 silver double albert, Herbert Bushell
Antique silver double albert, Herbert Bushell, 1919.
The chain consists of two long chains, each measuring 24cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is hallmarked for 1919, with a maker’s mark for the Birmingham silversmith Herbert Bushell & Son. The same hallmarks can be found on each of the clasps.
Each of the links has the lion silver mark, and one has the Herbert Bushell mark again, so we can be sure that all chain components started life together.
The albert also has a large silver fob, a little earlier in date than the albert, made by J G Graves of Sheffield and having a date letter for 1905. The fob is free from any personal inscriptions.
