A rare late 19th century English oolitic limestone Bulldog. The dog is seated with a typical grumpy expression upon his face, almost ready to pounce.
The carving is in good condition and well weathered. He looks fantastic on a pedestal and is the perfect sculpture for the quintessential English country garden.
note a similar smaller example sold in Summers place auctions at Billingshurst ,west sussex on the 7th of June 2016 , LOT 204 for £8000.
