A rare GPO Type 16L telephone
A very rare GPO type 16 telephone (skeleton) with alpha/numeric dial. Introduced in 1890 and first appeared in the UK around 1892 using a local battery system and magneto ringer to contact the opperator. The GPO converted a few of the type 16 phones under pressure from the government during WW2 by adding a metal plate to support the dial assembly,the plate secured using the screws that attach the rubber feet. These phones were designated Type 16L
This example appears to be original and complete with wooden block terminal. Conversion to a usable phone no longer viable since the world is turning digital.

Deposits may be accepted on some goods by prior arangement for a period of no more than one week. Deposits are none returnable and payment in full must be made within one month unless by prior arrangement.
