A Mid-Century Oak Sideboard by H.J.Mann Sideboard oak Gordon Russell %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This oak sideboard has four graduated drawers flanked by cupboards, all with turned wooden handles of a contrasting darker wood, and a shaped apron. The top drawer is baize-lined and fitted for cutlery.

It was made for his own home by H.J.Mann, a highly skilled craftsman who worked for Gordon Russell for forty years from the mid-1920s. This sideboard is a bespoke variant of Frank Whitton's 1950 design. Mann has used very well-figured oak and the shaped apron, which harks back to the pre-war Cotswold School days, is not found on the standard production model.

It measures 50cm deep, 147cm wide and 88cm high.

In very good condition. The top has been refinished and there is one small stain still faintly visible on it.
