A large, round Whistle sign Whistle railway sign
A 20thC sign, approx 85cms in diameter, that would have been permanently fixed to a post, and instructing a train driver to sound his whistle.
It has large screw holes top and bottom for fixing, and some obvious paint wear/erosion. It is formed in black-painted ply board with a reflective tape affixed with some care & accuracy to make the W.
Listed as mid-century, which is likely but it could equally be a bit earlier: 40s. There is no attribution/label of ownership
Lovely patina: a nice thing and would look great in a cafe, restaurant or modern kitchen. A great gift for someone who’s name begins with a W My shop at 1 Bridge St, Dulverton TA22 9HJ is open
