A large Mahogany Knife box
A large and rare George III Sheraton Period figured mahogany knife box with a lovely patina the rise and fall action opening to reveal a stepped interior edged with chevron detail, the top is finished with a large acorn shaped finial which sits on swept top inlaid with 16 chevron lines that flow down through the top and graduate down to the turned bottom on platform base edged with Tulipwood banding and line inlay. The lock is good in working order having and is finished with a silver shield shaped estcusheon .
