A gents 9 carat gold Everite wrist watch, 1960
A gents 9 carat gold Everite wrist watch originally sold by H Samuel.
Everite was the name given to the range of watches retailed by the company.
The watch has an FHF 73 hand-winding movement which is working nicely.
The watch itself measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1960. There is a small indentation to the case back but otherwise the case is in good condition, as is the lens.
The signed dial has cross hair detail, dauphine shaped hands and a red centre seconds hand. There is some freckling.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
In 1862 when Harriet Samuel took over her father-in-law's clock-making business in Liverpool, she renamed the business H Samuel and moved the business to Manchester's Market Street where she ran the company as a mail order business.
Later on, Harriet’s son concentrated on the retail side of the business, and the first H Samuel retail store opened in Preston in 1890, closely followed by branches in Rochdale and throughout Lancashire. Since then the company has become nationwide with branches in many British High Streets today.
