A gents 1965 Zenith 2600 automatic wrist watch
A gents 1965 Zenith 2600 automatic wrist watch.
The watch has a calibre 2532PC automatic movement which is working nicely.
The hand-winding predecessor, the 2532, was introduced in 1964 and was only produced for three years before being discontinued. The 2532 was deemed to be so dependable and accurate that it was also used as the basis for two automatic models, the 2532P and 2532PC. Zenith produced their own in-house movements and did not rely on ebauche movements (blank movements which required finishing) as many watch producers did.
This particular movement is signed and the serial number 6003167 dates it back to 1965.
The watch itself measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition with just minor surface marking. The inside of the screw-on case back is signed Zenith, and the winding crown has the Z logo.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish which is in very nice condition. The hands appear to be the originals and there is an early form of quickset date between 4 and 5 (where the hands are moved backwards and forwards repeatedly between 12 midnight and 7pm until the desired date is reached). The date can also be changed by just turning them forwards.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
