The double serpentine front of this amazing object is Calamander, the base and the profusely carved top are Ebony. The escutcheon and Bird hinges are Indian silver and the lock and key are steel.
The molded edge of the top and bottom are "egg and dart" and the top depicts an organic floral design which has been deeply carved with a great deal of skill. Made for the European market in the mid 19th century. 360mm wide, 230mm deep and 110mm high.Circa 1850.
