A 1960s galonne cased Nilax pocket watch
A 1960s galonne cased Nilax pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, a Unitas 6431, which is working nicely. Nilax seems to have been a brand name used by Unitas and indeed some wristwatches have both names on the dial.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The galonne case is 800 silver (with Swiss hallmarks inside the case back) with a rose gold wash around the bezel and also around the edge of the case back. This style of case was very popular in the Scandinavian countries at the beginning of the 20th Century. The case is in very nice condition with none of the usual rubbing to the wash.
The acrylic lens has a patch of light marking but you have to look carefully to see it.
The signed white dial is in beautiful condition with luminous detail to the hands. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
