A 1950s Roamer Supershock boxed wrist watch
A 1950s Roamer Supershock boxed wrist watch.
The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one to two minutes or so over 24 hours.
The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown or the lugs. As it is more of a mid sized watch, it would suit a gentleman with a slimmer wrist or it would work nicely as a lady’s watch. The case is gold plated and, if you look closely, there are some patches of wear but the base metal is very similar in colour so they do not show too much at all.
The case back states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, this should not be relied upon.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial has fabulous style with a part textured dial in a dart board type pattern. It is in super condition with original hands and a centre seconds hand with a red pointer end.
A later brown leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes with its original presentation box. As the leather strap has not been worn much, if at all, it still has the stiffness of new leather which is preventing the lid from closing completely. It will soften in time and then the lid should close fully.
Unusually, the watch also has its original guarantee from when the watch was purchased on Christmas Eve in 1959.
