A 17th Century Italian walnut carving. Of large scale, this carving depicts putto either side of a griffin and shield, beautifully carved, it's original purpose was probably architectural. 590mm high, 1470mm wide and 90mm deep. Italian. Mid to late 17th century. W J Gravener Antiques is a family owned business, started in 1963 by William who was joined by son, Mark in 1981 and continues today with the same ethos of dealing in fine quality English and Continental furniture, mirrors and decorative objects, from the 18th & 19th centuries.
