9ct gold Rotary wrist watch, 1937
9ct gold Rotary wrist watch, 1937.
The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Rotary wings logo.
The watch measures 21mm wide excluding the winding crown and 30mm high excluding the lugs, although originally designed as a man's watch, it would suit a slimmer wrist. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London 1937 with a maker's mark for Sylvain Dreyfus.
Rotary Watches Ltd was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company's most successful market.
The case is in good condition with just the odd minor mark, nothing too serious at all.
The convex lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original feuille shaped blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box. ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).
